HOUSTON – Officials with Houston ISD notified parents with children at Franklin Elementary School that a white powdery substance was discovered in an envelope that arrived with the mail.
A letter explaining the incident was sent home Friday saying that the substance did not pose a threat to students or school staff.
The Houston Fire Department’s hazard materials crew was dispatched to the school after the powder was discovered by school staff.
The main office was quarantined, officials said. School resumed after the letter was removed from the campus.
