HOUSTON –- Houston police said potholes along Hempstead Highway caused an officer to crash his patrol car late Sunday night.
The crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. near W. Tidwell, according to officers with the Houston Police Department.
Police said the officer was responding to a home burglary call when he hit several potholes, causing him to lose control. The patrol car spun around and struck a vehicle in another lane. The officer’s car then went into a ditch.
The officer was not injured, but a male passenger in the other car complained of dizziness and was sent to the hospital.
Hempstead Highway’s westbound lanes were closed for a few hours while HPD investigated.
