HOUSTON – A Houston grandmother who was beaten and sexually assaulted in her home earlier this month has helped police come up with a sketch of the suspect.
The 62-year-old woman was ambushed by a man as she walked to her car on Friday, February 1. He forced her back to the house in the 1500 block of De Walt. He hit her over the head with a vase and tried to strangle her with a cord before sexually assaulting her at knifepoint.
"You can’t imagine someone doing that to your mom," said the victim’s daughter.
Neighbors say another woman in her fifties was attacked around the corner a few months ago. There’s fear the cases could be related.
"Whoever it is a coward because they’re going after females," the victim’s daughter said. "I just picture it and it’s going over and over in my head and it’s just making me sick."
The suspect is a black male, 35-45 years old. He’s around 6’1 and weights about 230-250 pounds. He is heavyset with a dark complexion and short black hair. He is clean shaven. The day of the attack he wore a black cotton jacket, black jean shorts and black or red Converse shoes.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the suspect’s identity.
