HOUSTON – A man was arrested and charged with murdering his mother after an argument turned physical inside a southeast Houston home, Houston police said.
Patrol officers performing a requested welfare check found Bernice Willis Lewis, 64, dead at about 9:20 a.m. Thursday in the 6100 block of Kenilwood.
Investigators said Alexander Joseph Lewis, Jr., 37, and his mother got into an argument on Saturday that escalated into a physical fight; and she died as a result of the fight.
Her son remained at the home and made no attempt to get her medical assistance, police said.
Alexander Lewis was immediately taken into custody. Police said he admitted his involvement in his mother’s death and was subsequently charged.
Bernice Lewis' cause of death will be determined by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
