HOUSTON — Police have identified the Houston woman who was killed after she was hit by a car while walking Friday evening in a Montrose neighborhood.

Lucinda Dixon, 67,  was walking her two dogs down D’Amico Street, just west of Waugh Drive, when she was struck by the car. Dixon died instantly from the sudden impact.

Police said it looks like the driver had just come to a halt at a stop sign, and then stepped on the gas. One witness said Dixon did not have a chance to get out of the way.

Immediately after the collision, Dixon’s two dogs went running and witnesses chased after them.

Officials said that the driver is a woman in her 80s and appeared to be very upset after the accident.

She was questioned by police in the back of a squad car, but it is unclear whether she will face any charges or citations.
