HOUSTON – Traffic came to a sudden stop in southeast Houston Friday afternoon, but it wasn’t because of a wreck or construction.

Police shut down the Gulf Freeway northbound lanes at Airport Boulevard to escort the Prime Minister of Australia to the museum district.

Tony Abbott flew in from Washington, D.C. to speak at a dinner hosted by the Asia Society Texas Center.

This was his first trip to the U.S. since taking office in 2013.
