SANTA FE, Texas—Police believe two Santa Fe women phoned in a fake 911 call so they could steal drugs from an ambulance at a vacated EMS station.

Investigators said the suspects, Amanda Kay Grigg and Heather Elizabeth Bemrose, are both former EMS employees.

The whole thing started Tuesday night when police received a call about an unresponsive man behind a business in the 4200 block of FM 1764.

The caller told dispatchers she thought the man needed an ambulance.

Investigators said EMS and police were sent to the scene, but when they got there, they couldn’t find a victim.

Once they realized there wasn’t an emergency, they cleared the scene.

A few minutes later, investigators said police were called about a disturbance at the Santa Fe EMS station.

When they arrived, EMS personnel told them they’d caught Griggs, 37, and Bemrose, 39, in the station when they returned from the FM 1764 scene.

Police believe the women acted together in phoning in the bogus call. Once the EMS personnel left the station, investigators said one of the women burglarized the remaining ambulance while the other served as a lookout.

Grigg has been charged with burglary of a motor vehicle, possession of dangerous drugs and false alarm or report. She’s being held on $8,000 bond.

Bemrose has been charged with burglary of a motor vehicle and false alarm or report. She’s being held on $6,500 bond.
