HOUSTON -- Police are searching for a suspected drunk driver who made a daring jump to flee the scene of a deadly accident early Saturday.

It happened on the Eastex Freeway at Laura Koppe in northeast Houston.
Police said around 1 a.m. a man was speeding in a white pickup truck when he slammed into the back end of a small, black car traveling in the same direction.
The black car, carrying two occupants, became disabled at the bottom of an overpass hill in a moving lane. That is when an 18-wheeler crashed into the disabled car, according to police. The driver died at the scene and the passenger was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt.
The pickup truck driver bailed out of his car, jumped over the elevated freeway wall and fled the scene.  Authorities said he may be hurt, but they are not sure. It was a 30-foot drop off the freeway.
