HOUSTON—A police chase ended when the suspect smashed into the side of a house in Houston early Monday morning.
It happened around 1:40 a.m. at Woodhead and Vassar.
Police said they tried to pull the suspect’s SUV over for expired tags, but he fled.
During the pursuit, police said the suspect turned off his headlights in an apparent bid to hide.
The suspect sped down Vassar in the dark, unaware that the street comes to an end at its intersection with Woodhead.
Police said the SUV plowed into the home, where three people were sleeping.
Miraculously, none of them was injured – even though a woman was in a bed next to the wall the SUV hit.
"It was my room. I just woke up to this and came outside. We saw what had happened. I mean, I thought we had got struck by lightning or something, because I was completely sleeping when it happened," Bridgette Cummings said.
The suspect was injured and taken to the hospital.
