HOUSTON – A 35-year-old man is accused of beating a police K-9 unit after the dog corned him during a chase in north Houston, police said.
Jermiah Willson is charged with evading arrest and attack on an assistance animal with bail set at $10,000 for each charge.
Police said Willson was allegedly driving a stolen car when they tried to pull him over. He then fled and ditched the car at Yale Street.
A K-9 unit was called in to assist with the search, police said. The dog cornered the suspect, who then proceeded to kick and punch the animal. A police officer subdued him.
Police said the dog was OK after the assault.
