HOUSTON— An alert has gone out to parents in a northeast Houston neighborhood after a man allegedly solicited sex from children near a park.

The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Monday, and involved a 12-year-old boy and his two younger sisters who were walking home from Tuffly Park.

Authorities said the kids were in the 3700 block of Russell Street when a man approached the boy on foot and offered to pay him money in exchange for sex.

The children continued to walk.   As soon as they arrived home, they called the police.

The suspect was described as an Hispanic male who was between 17 and 20 years old.  He was about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighted between 150 and 170 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans.

Police advised parents in the area to coach their kids on how to protect themselves from strangers.

Noah Olveda has five small kids.  He said he was keeping a close eye on them.

“It’s real concerning and shocking that it happened so close,” said Olveda.

“I tell my kids not to talk to strangers, and to just come home and talk to me immediately,” he said.

Anyone with information was being urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
