HOUSTON – Two Houston-area educators went to jail Thursday night after they were arrested outside a Houston club.
Matthew Neufeld, assistant principal at Alief's Chancellor Elementary, and Bradley Wayne Voss, a veteran English and journalism teacher at Stafford High School, were picked up in the club's parking lot around 11 p.m.
Police say they approached their car because they were acting suspicious and that's when they spotted two small bags of white powder. It later tested positive for cocaine.
Neufeld,35, and Voss, 41, are each charged with possession of cocaine of less than one gram.
Parents outside Chancellor Elementary were shocked to hear the news about Neufeld.
"Oh my God... I got all my kids over here," said Camillo Macareno.
"I met him a couple of times on school meetings and he seems very responsible," said Yolanda Martinez. "Yes it is shocking to me."
Voss has a previous arrest for DWI in 2004.
The school districts confirmed that neither man was at work Friday.
A Stafford ISD official said Voss will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
An Alief ISD spokesperson said they are waiting for more information before they comment.
