HOUSTON—A nearby driver was injured when a prop plane dropped its banner to avoid crashing into a populated baseball field Saturday afternoon.
Around 3:45, a small plane began making a descent just above Diez Baseball Fields. Witnesses say the nose was up and the tail was down.
The plane’s engine was sputtering and umpires directed people away from the area in case of an emergency landing.
The plane had been pulling an advertisement banner behind it and the pilot was able to cut the sign from the plane, which helped to regain altitude.
However, the sign blew half a mile away and right into the face of a passenger on a motorcycle. The cyclist was rushed to the hospital. No one on the field was injured.
