HOUSTON -- Police said a pedestrian who fell into a northwest Houston roadway sustained minor injuries after he was hit by a passing car.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. Monday on Campbell Road at Long Point Road, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD said the man was walking along Campbell when he fell on the side of the road. He was on his knees and trying to get up when a car traveling southbound didn’t see him and struck him.

Police said the vehicle wasn’t speeding and stopped to speak with investigators.

HPD said the injured pedestrian may have been intoxicated. He was sent to the hospital in stable condition.
