PEARLAND, Texas – The community is mourning the sudden death of a high school Spanish teacher.
Tracie Burroughs, 47, passed away Tuesday. The cause and manner of her death is still pending.
An autopsy was performed and doctors have ordered additional testing to determine the cause of her death.
Pearland ISD released the following statement:
"Pearland ISD is deeply saddened by the death of one of our employees. Pearland High School Spanish teacher Tracie Burroughs passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11. Mrs. Burroughs worked for Pearland ISD for nine years and was the 2013 Pearland High School Teacher of the Year. Pearland ISD will continue to provide counselors throughout the week for students and staff."
