HOUSTON -- The U.S. Coast Guard shut down part of the Houston Ship Channel late Monday morning after someone reportedly jumped from the Fred Hartman Bridge.
A spokesman for the Coast Guard said two incoming ships and two outbound ships were stopped while crews searched for the person.
Houston TranStar reported one northbound lane of the bridge was shut down as well. The bridge fully reopened shortly before 1 p.m.
Air 11 flew over the scene as officials searched the water for the person. Authorities were also seen looking over a car that appeared to be parked on the bridge’s shoulder.
No further information about the incident was immediately available.
