HOUSTON – An east Houston family wants to know who shot and killed their son.
Almost a year after Orlando Aburto’s death, his family continues to stand together in asking the public for answers.
"We see things all around us about him, and he’s not there," said Juanita Aburto, the victim’s mother.
She says she won’t stop trying to find out who shot her 25-year-old son last September.
"I just want to know. I want somebody to come forward and let us know. Let us know something," said Aburto.
Deputies said the night of his death, Orlando and his friends were at Christian’s Tailgate Bar and Grill. After leaving the bar around 2:45 a.m., Orlando was riding his motorcycle along the service road of Miller Road 3 when he was shot and killed.
Deputies said there is no motive.
Orlando’s friends say he had no cash.
"You know we all just pitched in and had fun. It didn’t really matter about money. We all just wanted to have a good time," said friend Victor Jimenez.
Jimenez was the last person to see Aburto alive. Their goodbye still haunts him.
"I told him I was leaving and we shook hands and he said, ‘Alright, well just be careful going home,’" Jimenez said.
Family and friends, along with Crime Stoppers, are asking for someone to come forward.
"Someone that they saw, some car that they saw, a description of some car that they saw driving away," said Crime Stoppers Executive Director Katherine Cabiness. "Don’t think that your information is not significant. Don’t think that it won’t be helpful."
Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the case. If you have any information, call (713)-222-TIPS.
