HOUSTON — Fire officials late Tuesday said a grass fire along Katy Hockley Cut Off and Clay Road was under control, according to the Westlake Fire Department.
WFD was one of at least three units called to battle the flames on Christmas Day. Firefighters in the Katy area spent part of Wednesday morning making sure no hot spots flared up after the big scare.
The flames broke out in a field north of Interstate 10 and at one point got dangerously close to a business with extremely flammable materials.
Tuesday’s winds were so strong, the fire managed to jump a road.
Despite several structures nearby, no loss of property was reported.
