HOUSTON – The rape trial of a former Houston police officer will resume on Monday, Sept. 24, according to the presiding judge’s court coordinator.
It was Friday when Judge Denise Collins suffered a serious family crisis, delaying the trial.
The rape trial is against former Houston Police Department officer Abraham Joseph. A waitress has accused the officer of arresting, handcuffing, and then sexually assaulting her in a central southwest Houston park.
Joseph admitted to the sexual encounter, but he claims it was consensual.
