HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department said one of two off-duty officers working security at a nightclub was forced to open fire on a vehicle that attempted to run them over.

It happened around 3 a.m. Wednesday on Shepherd Drive at Nett Street.

Police said the officers were working to clear out the parking lot after the nightclub closed when a silver car sped toward them. One of the officers fired several rounds at the car, but no one was struck.

The car, with two men inside, sped away but was later located behind a restaurant a few blocks away.

With the assistance of a K-9 unit, officers were able to find one of the men hiding behind some garbage cans. The other suspect got away, police said.
