HOUSTON –- A homeowner says electrical issues may have sparked two fires at his northside home.

The second, larger fire was reported around 3 a.m. Tuesday on Chapman Street near Woodard Street.

Houston firefighters made a fast attack and quickly put the fire out but not before the home sustained heavy damage. There was no one home at the time, and no injuries were reported.

A homeowner later told the media a smaller fire broke out in the home early Monday afternoon when an electrical outlet caught fire. The family left the home at that time and no one was there when the second blaze broke out.

An arson team is investigating the cause of the fire.
