HOUSTON – The North Houston Frontiers Club will host the 26th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast at the Hilton Americas – Houston Downtown on Monday, January 20. KHOU 11 News Anchor Len Cannon will serve as emcee for the event, which will begin at 8 a.m.
The Keynote Speaker will be Mr. Willie Iles, National Director Government and Community Relations of Boy Scouts of America. Keith Davis, President, D-Mars.com, and Dr. Shawn Simmons, Regulatory and Environmental Advisor with ExxonMobil Development Company, are the honorary chairs.
During the breakfast, the prestigious Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major Award will be presented to Sarah Joseph, Community Relations Director, Houston Rockets.
The net proceeds from the breakfast are historically used to fund the scholarship program. The organization has awarded over $1, 100, 000 in scholarships over the past 24 years. Proceeds from the 2013 breakfast were used to fund $20,000 in scholarships (five 4-year awards at $1,000 per year).
The North Houston Frontiers Club, Inc. is a non-profit, 501 ©(3)service organization, dedicated to providing educational and charitable assistance to needy minority students in the Greater Houston area. They sponsor two major activities each year to support the organization, one of which is the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast, which solely funds their scholarship program.
