HOUSTON —- Investigators early Monday worked to figure out what started a fire at an apartment complex in southwest Houston.
It happened in the 10800-block of Richmond around 5 a.m.
Neighbors said one family grabbed fire extinguishers and tried to put the flames out while they waited for firefighters to show up.
“I called 9-1-1, and my family was working on putting the fire out and everything until they came and then that’s when the fire department said to take a step back and get everybody out of the apartments,” said resident Beth Matthews.
There were no reports of any injuries.
There was no early word on what may have caused the blaze, but the damage appeared to be limited to one building in the roof area.
