HOUSTON -- Firefighters said the quick actions of some alert neighbors may have kept a southeast Houston apartment fire from causing any injuries.
It was reported around 11:15 p.m. on Cripple Creek Drive at Silver Creek Drive, according to the Houston Fire Department.
HFD found flames coming from an upstairs apartment unit of a two-story building. They made a fast attack and got the fire under control before it spread to other units.
One person was in the home at the time of the fire. HFD said it was neighbors who first spotted the blaze and banged on the man’s door to alert him to it.
Arson investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, which they said appeared to have started on an outside wall.
