HOUSTON – A motorcycle rider was airlifted to the hospital Monday after slamming into a freeway barrier in northwest Harris County.
Police said the motorcyclist was traveling west on Highway 290 near Skinner around 11 p.m. when he lost control and slammed into the center concrete barrier.
The rider slid almost 100 feet before coming to a stop in the middle of the freeway.
He was airlifted to Memorial Hermann in serious condition. It is unknown if the rider was wearing a helmet at the time.
The westbound lanes were shut down a few hours until investigators cleared the scene.
