HOUSTON – Weather was a factor in a fatal accident involving a motorcycle rider and an 18-wheeler near the West Liberty County line and the Dayton city limits Monday morning, according to the Dayton Police Department.
Police said the tractor trailer was heading south on CR 611 and turning east onto Highway 1960 when the motorcycle rider, who was heading west on the highway, hit the middle of the trailer.
The rider died at the scene.
The weather conditions, no doubt, contributed to this crash as visibility was less than 100’ due to a very heavy and thick early morning fog, police said.
All traffic was diverted off Hwy 1960 onto CR 611 while DPS investigated.
