HOUSTON -- Police said a biker’s helmet and padded body gear may have saved his life in an overnight crash on the south side of town.
It was around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on the South Loop. Officers with the Houston Police Department said the male rider slammed into the back of a car near the Highway 288 interchange.
The bike slid down the freeway, bursting into flames.
Police said the rider was wearing protective gear. He was sent to the hospital in stable condition. No one in the car was hurt.
