KEMAH, Texas – A motorcyclist died early Saturday morning after crashing his bike while attempting to flee from police, authorities said.
The incident happened around 12:00 a.m. near the intersection of Kipp and 10th.
According to authorities, a Kemah police officer attempted to pull over two motorcycles for running a red light, but the bikes took off in different directions.
One of the suspects turned down a side street near Kemah Boardwalk when he was spotted by another officer. The officer tried to catch up to the suspect but the motorcyclist was gone. However, when the officer turned around he found the motorcyclist lying in some bushes.
Police said the driver must have lost control of his bike because he was going at such a high rate of speed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the status of the other motorcyclist was unknown.
