HOUSTON – A Texas family speaks up after learning their son was killed while searching for a fellow soldier, just released in a controversial trade with five Taliban leaders.
The family is outraged.
Their son 2nd Lt. Darryn Andrews was killed in Afghanistan in 2009 while using his body to shield two other soldiers from a blast.
That was shortly after Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl reportedly walked off his post. It is now widely reported that 6 U.S. soldiers, including Lt. Andrews, were killed looking for Bergdahl.
“My son’s life was worth more than that,” said Sondra Andrews.
She called the trade with the Taliban “horrible.”
