KATY, Texas -- A mother and daughter from Katy have quite a story to tell after they had to be airlifted off of Mount St. Helens in the Pacific Northwest.

Nancy and Sarah Allen were hiking down the mountain Tuesday evening when Nancy, the mother, slid on some loose rock and fell 20 feet to a precarious spot.

By the time rescuers reached them, they had been awake 33 hours. The mother and daughter were cold and wet, and Nancy Allen was showing signs of hypothermia.

After all that, they faced a seven-hour hike back down when Nancy Allen overheard the rescue team say something about a helicopter. It cost them $1,300, but the mother said it was money well spent.

They are expected back home in Katy Saturday evening.
