GALVESTON — How much does it cost to feed the City Council? During the last fiscal year, the price was more than $400 every time the council called a meeting at City Hall.
According to receipts obtained through the Texas Public Information Act, the city secretary’s office spent $13,590.48 ordering takeout meals during Fiscal Year 2012-13.
Of that amount, $11,608.65 was spent on meals that accompanied council meetings. During the fiscal year, the council had 34 posted meetings. Records indicate that the secretary’s office ordered food for 28 of those meetings.
