HOUSTON—The Bayport Container Terminal has been accused of being a bad neighbor to residents living near the terminal. A couple that lives north of the terminal filed a lawsuit against the port authority Monday claiming the terminal is too loud.

The port authority has already offered money to about 400 families in Shoreacres, where the decibel level reaches 65 -- almost the equivalency to a dishwasher. But this couple lives outside that area.
Lemroy Simon and his wife claim they can’t sleep at night and the lights are so bright, it looks like a carnival.
It may only get worse. Fifteen more cranes are supposed to be built and in addition to the offloading container ships, the terminal will soon be a port for cruise ships.
