HOUSTON—A mother accused of encouraging her 13-year-old daughter to fight another girl says police have it all wrong.
At the courthouse Thursday Kimberly Holleman said it was her daughter who was bullied.
“The girl hit my daughter first at my house. Then, whenever they started fighting, her boyfriend grabbed my daughter by the throat and hit her. And then I went over there to try to talk to a parent,” she said.
The other girl, who does not want to be identified, says she’s the one who was bullied and said she didn’t want to fight.
“A lot of my brother’s friends were with him out here and they were just hanging out and then they showed up, and I told them to get out of my yard because I didn’t want to fight,” she said. “And she started hitting me and people that were with them were like, ‘Just hit her, just hit her, start a fight, start a fight,’ cause they wanted to see that.”
Holleman, in the meantime, faces a charge of injury to a child. That’s a felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison.
