MISSOURI CITY, Texas – A 6-year-old who was walking with his family in Missouri City Sunday was struck by a car after he suddenly darted into traffic, according to police.

Missouri City police said the boy, his mother and sister had just taken a trip to buy candy from the Chevron gas station on Cartwright at Quail Valley around 6 p.m. They were all walking home when the boy just suddenly ran into the street. His mother tried to pull him back, but before she could, he was struck by a woman driving an SUV.

“Suddenly everybody is screaming. I’m seeing on that side a boy has fell down on the road. People were standing there screaming,” said Joseph Abraham, witness.

“I seen lights flashing, a lot of cop cars,” Deandre Gilmore, another witness, said.

The boy was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment. At last check, he was conscious and is expected to be OK.

Residents who live in the area said that particular intersection is notorious for accidents. They are asking for more help from the city.
