MISSOURI CITY, Texas – A 50-year-old man died Friday from injuries he sustained when his kayak flipped over at American Legion Park.
Steven George Bouton, of Missouri City, and his teenage stepdaughter were fishing Friday afternoon at the lake when in overturned.
Witnesses said bystanders attempted to rescue both victims. Police and firefighters were dispatched to the lake at 4 p.m. and were able rescue both the father and stepdaughter.
Both the father and daughter were taken to Methodist Sugar Land. His daughter survived the accident.
“Our departments are saddened by Mr. Bouton’s tragic death and extend our sincere condolences to his family,” said Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald and Fire Chief Russell Sander in a joint statement.
