PEARLAND, Texas – Police say skeletal remains found in Pearland are that of a Houston woman missing since 2008.

Her death has been ruled a homicide.

According to the Pearland Police Department, Ramona “Mona” Dumas, 48, was last seen Oct. 25, 2008 while leaving a home in the 4600-block of Maggie Street in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Houston. She was never heard from again.

March 19, nearly four years later, officers recovered her remains from a property in the 4600-block of Dixie Farm Road. The evidence was sent to a lab at the University of North Texas to determine if the DNA could be matched to a missing person.

Pearland police said they were recently notified of the match to Dumas, made possible by a Federal Bureau of Investigation database.

“Now that her family knows what happened to her, we need to find out who killed her and why,” said Lt. Onesimo Lopez.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Steve Weaver at 281-997-4154.
