HOUSTON – An officer with the Memorial Village Police Department was treated for minor injuries after a rollover accident Saturday morning near the Katy Freeway, police said.

The accident happened at 6:16 a.m. when Officer R. Falks, 36, was looking for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident in Hunters Creek Village, police said.

Falks was trying to locate the suspect vehicle heading east on the Katy Freeway. He then noticed the suspect heading east on the South Service Road, and tried to exit the freeway onto the Silber/North Post Oak ramp.

As the officer was exiting the freeway, Falks hit a Chevrolet pickup, which was traveling east on the Katy Freeway near the 7800 block, police said.

The impact caused Falks’ police unit, a Chevrolet Tahoe, to rollover on the freeway, over the concrete barrier and off of the exit ramp embankment, police said. The truck fell approximately 20 feet onto the service road below.

Falks sustained minor injuries during the rollover and was treated and released from the hospital, police said.

The driver and passenger of the pickup involved in the accident reported that they were not injured, police said.
