HOUSTON -- Mattress Mack came to the rescue of a World War II veteran Friday desperate to get a good night's sleep.

91-year-old Milton Mase lives at the VA apartments at Main and Blodgett. He has a bad back and said he asked the VA for a new mattress.

Mattress Mack heard about his problem, and dropped off a free Tempur-Pedic mattress for Mase.

“I thank him for bringing this mattress here because I don’t know how much longer I was going to stay on the other one,” said Mase.

Gallery Furniture employees also hauled away the old mattress.
