HOUSTON – Two suspects are on the loose after shooting a man in front of his father’s northwest Houston home early Friday.

According to Houston police, a 29-year-old man was walking with a friend to his father’s house near North Main at 29th Street around 1:40 a.m. when they were approached by two suspects. One of the suspects was armed with a rifle and the other had a handgun.

The gunmen ordered the men to the ground. The friend obeyed, but the 29-year-old did not. That is when one of the suspects opened fire.

The victim was shot three times, but managed to run to the house and started banging on windows to get his dad’s attention.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police said they are unclear on the motive.

“Don’t really know if the motive was robbery, didn’t have a chance to really get into that. Once one of the victims refused to cooperate with them and was shot, the suspects ran off northbound on North Main,” said Sgt. Charles Moseley, HPD.

For now, police have only a vague description of the suspects.
