HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Deputy constables with Harris County Precinct One said a driver led them on a lengthy high-speed chase on the northwest side overnight.

The chase started shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday on Gessner at Hammerly after a constable tried to pull over a driver for a traffic violation.

Constables said the driver refused to stop and led them to Highway 290 where they went westbound at speeds of 90 to 120 mph. The suspect then got on Highway 249 where he crashed at a car dealership at Canyon Gate Pointe Drive. The entire chase lasted about 30 minutes.

Constables said the man ran from the crash, but a K-9 officer later found him hiding in the bed of a pickup truck at the car lot.

A woman who was in the suspect’s car was taken to the hospital to get checked out.

Constables said the driver had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest and now faces felony evading charges.
