HARRIS COUNTY, Texas –- Deputies said a man was taken into custody for a mental evaluation after an overnight SWAT standoff.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were called to the man’s home in the 2800 block of Bertrand around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
A family in the home said the man locked himself in a bedroom and threatened to shoot himself and family members. The family managed to get out of the home, and deputies attempted to try and negotiate with the man inside.
A SWAT team truck pulled up to the home around 1 a.m. and the man finally turned himself over to authorities without incident.
Authorities said the man would be taken into custody for a physical and mental health evaluation.
