Man struck, killed by train in northwest Houston

HOUSTON –- Houston police are investigating the death of a man who witnesses said was walking along train tracks on the northwest side of town late Monday.

The incident happened sometime before 11 p.m. along Hempstead Highway and 34th Street.

Witnesses at the scene described what appeared to be a homeless man walking the tracks.  An approaching train blew its horn and put on its brakes, but the man was struck and killed.

The investigation is on-going.
