HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- A man who became trapped between a pickup truck and a car in an accident early Wednesday morning may lose both of his legs.
The accident happened on Spears Road near T.C. Jester in northern Harris County around 4:30 a.m.
Deputies said three people in a gray Buick ran out of gas and were on the side of Spears when a good Samaritan stopped to help. They were using a gas can to fuel the Buick when a Dodge Charger came along and slammed into the rear of the good Samaritan’s pickup truck, which then hit the Buick.
One of the Buick’s passengers was out of the car and standing between the vehicles when the collision occurred, severing one of his legs and crushing the other. He was sent to the hospital by Life Flight in critical condition.
The two other people in the Buick were sent to the hospital in stable condition. The driver of the truck who was filling the car suffered on minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.
Deputies detained the driver of the Dodge but said alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
