CLEVELAND, Texas -- A check on a family’s well-being at a house in rural southeast Texas led deputies to four bodies. San Jacinto County Sheriff James Walters said Monday it appeared that a man fatally shot his girlfriend, her 4-year-old daughter and his adopted mother before killing himself. Walters says that the gunman "might have been off his medication." He declined to elaborate. Capt. Carl Jones says the gunman, 42-year-old Oliver Bills Jr., lived at the home with his girlfriend and her child. Names of those two victims were not immediately released. Jones said the other victim, 71-year-old Gloria Bills, had a home nearby. Deputies received a call Saturday night about a welfare check and verbal disturbance. Jones declined to say who made the call. The house is about 55 miles north of Houston.

You wonder what goes on in the mind of a person that commits this act. If you are going to kill someone then yourself you need to start out with yourself first. This is a sick world we are living in,with no help in sight.

Such a sad, sad thing. The fact that the police said he may have been off his meds indicates he likely did have mental health issues, but I will never understand how people, no matter HOW mentally ill, can take the lives of innocent people before killing themselves...particularly CHILDREN!! Maybe it's a form of ultimate control/power over others...? An attempt to hang on to control over SOMETHING in their lives when their lives seem to be spiraling out of control? Kind of clutching at straws. Whatever, he should have started this rampage with taking his OWN life, and let the others to live!

I guess people aren't reading (except for Broadmindedbroad). He was known to be on medications apparently by the police. That indicates mental illness. That means he wasn't in control of his mental capacity like you and I are. Does that make this "OK"? Certainly not, but please - try to educate yourselves a little more before expecting that he'd do things like a normal person. It's very hard for families of people with mental illnesses to get the person to do what they need, medicinewise, to keep out of these mental states. In some illnesses, the illness itself tricks you into thinking you're absolutely fine. Or the side-effects of the medicines are so painful and horrible, making the person feel really disoriented and disconnected from the world, that people choose to stop taking them. All too often people also self-medicate to escape the mental pain (chemically caused, and no they can't just Get Over It) that these illnesses bring. Doesn't excuse it - but does explain more.

STARWYNN well if the guy was on medication,someone new the side affects,or what he might do ,then why wasn,t he in insttution,then these people might be alive
