HOUSTON – A man died Saturday night after his car veered off the road and landed in a drainage ditch in southwest Houston, police said.
It happened at about 8:45 p.m. in the 6300 block of Windswept Lane near Unity Drive.
Investigators said the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Windswept Lane when it left the road and drove into the ditch.
The car ended up flipped upside down in the water.
A passerby flagged down a patrol officer after noticing the overturned vehicle.
Investigators said they do not know why the man left the roadway because there were no witnesses.
The driver was transported to the hospital where he later died.
“There’s no indication at this time that alcohol was a factor,” said HPD Sgt. Timothy Trometer.
