Man in critical condition after motorcycle accident on Highway 288

HOUSTON – A man is in critical condition after getting in a wreck on his motorcycle on state Highway 288 in south Houston, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, the man was going at a high rate of speed at 1 a.m. when he rear ended a black car near Reed Road. The motorcycle burst into flames.

The man on the motorcycle was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital, police said. Authorities do not think he was intoxicated, but said he wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Police said no one else was hurt.
