HOUSTON – A man was found dead inside a charred apartment unit at a Houston complex Thursday night.
Firefighters arrived at the Silver Springs Apartments around 11:30 p.m.
Crews said the fire started in a downstairs unit, but it spread from that apartment to several others.
Firefighters had to pull a second alarm after the flames threatened to spread to the apartments’ joint attic.
Once the fire was out, crews went in and discovered the body.
Neighbors said the man who lived in the burned unit was in his 50s.
It was not clear if the man, whose identity was not released, died before or during the fire.
Homicide and arson investigators were at the scene well into Friday morning, collecting evidence.
