HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man was found dead from a gunshot wound in a car in the middle of a southeast Harris County neighborhood on Saturday afternoon, police said.
According to the Houston Police Department, the victim was parked with three others inside the car around 1:45 p.m. in the cul-de-sac in the 12800 block of Gotham. A passenger in the back seat of the car shot the passenger in front.
The two people in the backseat then jumped out and took off running, police said. The driver stayed behind and is now talking to police.
It’s not clear, what these folks were doing just sitting in the car. Also police are not even clear at this point, if the shooting was intentional or some sort of bizarre accident.
There were plenty of people were outside in the neighborhood when the shooting happened, including a door-to-door salesman, who was working just yards away from where the bullets went flying.
“I just walked down the street going to see what’s going on, and when I got here, I could see a body hanging out of the car,” Terry Morrison, a salesman, said.
“There were multiple occupants sitting in the gray Impala and apparently or accidently or for reasons unknown, one of the passengers in the back seat shot the front right passenger,” HPD Sgt. C. E. Elliott said.
Neighbors said they haven’t seen this car before — they think the people involved are from somewhere else.
At this point, police haven’t released any information about the victim.
