Man drowns after car ended up in creek near Sugar Land

SUGAR LAND, Texas – Friday night’s thunderstorms may be to blame for a drowning in Fort Bend County, according to sheriff’s deputies.

At about 4:20 a.m. Saturday, deputies found a car submerged in a creek along Old Richmond Road.

Investigators said the man called 911 earlier in the morning, but was out of breath and didn’t respond to questions.

By the time firefighters arrived, the driver was dead.
