HOUSTON – A 50-year-old man died Sunday morning after he crashed his SUV into a barrier on the Katy Freeway in west Houston, police said.
According to the Houston Police Department, a gray Honda CRV was heading east on the Katy Freeway when it struck the barrels at the exit for Eldridge. The accident happened at 6:30 a.m.
When the SUV hit the barrels, it went airborne and flipped over, police said.
The driver was airlifted by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he later died, police said.
The inbound main lanes were closed for a couple of hours while HPD investigated the accident.
